A night worker assessment applies to staff whom regularly work at least 3 hours during the night period, indicated to be 11pm to 6am, unless there is local agreement on night work.

The UK Government state employers must offer workers a free health assessment before they become a night worker with a repeat assessment offered at regular intervals. Employees do not have to accept this. For more information please click on the link  https://www.gov.uk/night-working-hours/health-assessments

How is this completed

  • This is a online process. Amber Occupational Health will provide a web link for you to email to employees who meet the Night Working Criteria. Once submitted the response is reviewed by a Occupational Health Nurse Advisor.
  • The questionnaire should be presented to all employees who meet the Night Worker criteria and provides a section for the employee to record if they wish to decline the assessment.
  • If the completed questionnaire raises health concerns the employee might be contacted by Occupational Health to discuss this.
  • On completion of the process a Individual Fitness Record will be provided to the business.
